Consider the unique significance of a bird nest. Though its hodgepodge appearance and construction typically comprise naturally unremarkable items like twigs, leaves and dirt, a nest’s presence in a vineyard is coveted by most farmers as evidence of something much more magnificent: Health, growth, and a flourishing ecosystem. A nest, after all, is a place for warmth. For love. For happy chirps, for first flights and for family. We created Nest to celebrate the comfort of home, the power of growth and the splendor of nature’s little miracles.
BAM! That’s probably the first reaction you’ll have when you taste the new release of Nest Zinfandel. This fruity, bold bottle is everything we love about Zin. The wine is full-bodied, juicy, jammy and layered with a berry blast in aromas. The taste is a balance of blackberry jam, cherry liqueur and vanilla with hints of spice and herbs. The finish is long and smooth, the signal for a wine that is both great as a rich sipper on its own and great with rich, flavorful foods.
For this Zinfandel, grapes were harvested from vines planted 43-52 years ago in Sonoma County, California. After harvest, grapes were destemmed and placed into stainless-steel tanks to ferment on organic, non-GMO selected yeast for 7-9 days. They then aged in stainless steel tanks for 8 months until bottling, unfined and unfiltered.
DID YOU KNOW?
Some of the oldest vines in the world are Zinfandel vines planted in California! Zin dates back to the late 1800s and was a common grape in many field blends. Red Zinfandel fell out of fashion in the 1970-1980s though in favor of Cabernet. But it was the rise in popularity of White Zinfandel that kept these old vines alive and not re-planted!
