Consider the unique significance of a bird nest. Though its hodgepodge appearance and construction typically comprise naturally unremarkable items like twigs, leaves and dirt, a nest’s presence in a vineyard is coveted by most farmers as evidence of something much more magnificent: Health, growth, and a flourishing ecosystem. A nest, after all, is a place for warmth. For love. For happy chirps, for first flights and for family. We created Nest to celebrate the comfort of home, the power of growth and the splendor of nature’s little miracles.
The grapes for this Zinfandel were handpicked from vines planted over 30 years ago in California’s Mendocino County. After fermenting in stainless steel for 16 days, the wine aged in a combination of neutral French Oak barrels, Redwood barrels, and stainless steel for 14 months until bottling, unfined and lightly filtered.
DID YOU KNOW? Zinfandel grapes were first grown in California in the mid-nineteenth century. It’s believed that this varietal was brought over during the Gold Rush!
