This stunning Chardonnay combines the rich and toasty taste you know and love from traditional Chardonnays with a bright and fresh flavor that is delicious and balanced. Notes of chopped apple and ripe pear lead your palate into a touch of buttery flavor accented with roasted hazelnuts. If you’re a fan of classic California Chardonnay, you’ll definitely love this wine!
Many South American vineyards are nestled among some of the tallest and most beautiful mountain ranges in the world, with elevations as high as 20 (“veinte”) thousand feet. At these higher elevations, the air is thin and dry, making it inhospitable for many pests that attack grapevines, therefore eliminating the need for pesticides. These extreme growing conditions make for a delicious wine that exhibits concentrated flavors and unique character.
The grapes for this Chardonnay were night-harvested from vines in Casablanca Valley, Chile. After harvest, they moved to stainless-steel tanks to ferment for 10-15 days. Once fermented, this wine was aged for 9 months in a combination of French oak barrels, French oak foudre, and stainless-steel vessels.
DID YOU KNOW?
A foudre is a large oak vat that is significantly bigger than a classic oak barrel. It gives roundness to a wine without imparting a lot of oaky flavors and is used mostly in the Southern regions of France.
